Reimagine Catawba Springs Catawba Springs Golf

With our Club’s centennial year rapidly approaching, the Lake Hickory Country Club Board of Directors is pleased to announce major golf course enhancements to our Catawba Springs course. Phase I of a multi-phased master plan was unanimously approved by our Board of Directors and enhancements are scheduled to begin late this summer. Investing in the golf course is one of the keys to the long-term success of Lake Hickory Country Club. This investment will provide our current members with a premium golf experience, as well as attract new members to play one of the most preferred courses in the Hickory Metro area.

Phase I will consist of the following enhancements:

Bunker Renovation (27-Holes)

  • Improved Sustainability
  • Improved Playability
  • Greater Visual Appeal

Practice Facilities and Short Game Area

  • Adds substantial value to new and existing members
  • Hub of the facility
  • Gives families a chance to be together in a golf activity
  • Significantly improve Member engagement and relations

Design Refinements (Holes 7, 8 and 9 Sulphur Springs Course)

  • Substantially improve playability
  • Major positive impact by increasing member and guest experience Many times, members are unable to finish their round due to the challenge these holes present. We need Members and Guests to finish on a positive note with a smile
  • Increase the enjoyment of Women and Junior Members

Tree Clearing and Turf Quality (27-Holes)

  • Bermuda grass needs sunlight
  • Less shade equals better turf
  • Overall better turf quality promotes a more enjoyable golfing experience

Our next steps will be to engage Jeff Lawrence, Golf Course Architect to develop a detailed design plan for each of the Phase I projects. Once complete, these plans will be reviewed and approved by our Golf Committee and Board of Directors. Once the plans are approved and a bid is accepted, a more accurate project schedule will be sent to the membership. Even better news, the Phase I enhancements will be funded from club operations. At this time, there will be no assessment to our Membership.

This is an exciting time for Lake Hickory Country Club and the Board of Directors is committed to maintaining our Club as the premier Country Club in the greater Hickory area.
